Royal Bluebird

A bird’s flicker outlines my name,
the sound of waves calls it away.
A single thread, so weak, so slight,
Yet holds the weight of day and night.

My feet are cold, my toes get wet,
I’m balancing on a fragile thread.
I lift my hands up to the sky,
my mouth stays shut, but still, I cry.

Hastily,
kissed by the sea,
as I close my eyes—
wildly.

My lungs are full,
Can’t breathe anymore.
Don’t worry, dear,
Meet you at the shore.

My eyes turn blue—
the royal kind,
just like the ocean’s
unsettled mind.

My knees grow weak,
my legs feel sore.
The water is inviting me,
the charming deep blue sea.

The sea still whispers my name. Don’t cry, my dear.
I am with you in every promise we made, in every child’s laugh.
And each time the waves embrace you, know that it’s me holding you.
